Out and About

Ilfracombe is an ideal base for all that North Devon has to offer, including walking, cycling, surfing, horse-riding, golf and gardens. Whatever the weather, there is something to do, and our cottage/Guest House/Apartment will make the perfect base for your holiday.

The area around Ilfracombe is classed as an ‘area of outstanding natural beauty’ and many guests enjoy the local walks, particularly walking the South West Coast Path. It is possible to arrange a walking guide and at the beginning of May there is a popular Walking Festival which draws walkers from all over Britain and abroad.

Golf: There are numerous golf courses in the area including the championship links at Saunton, the Parkland Golf course at Ilfracombe and the golf courses of Willingcott and Easewell less than a mile away.

Riding, surfing, wind-surfing and fishing are among popular activities and more leisurely activities include the Tractor and Trailer rides and Sheepdog trials together with Falconry exhibitions taking place in July and August in Mortehoe. Skern Lodge offer a wide range of adventure activities

Marwood Hill Gardens, Arlington Court (National Trust) and Wistlandpound Reservoir are less than ten miles away and Exmoor, Lynton and Lynmouth are less than 15 miles from here.

And if all that isn’t enough, you can try your skills at Quad Biking, Clay Pigeon Shooting, Indoor Climbing, Paintball and Sailing.
